The production of stainless steel piston rods and valve stems is one of our specialties. Our production facilities are designed for complete machining in one operation. By roller burnishing or smoothing the stainless steel piston rods, the following advantages are achieved:
- Friction reduction
- Wear protection of the surface, as an increase in hardness is achieved through compaction ( up to 30% depending on the application).
- Seals last longer because “grinding off” is reduced.
- Necessary valve closing forces can be reduced because the friction to the seal package is reduced.
- For maximum wear protection with optimum corrosion resistance, we have developed the Stechorit® surface for piston rods. This has a hardness of 3000 HV and includes special roller burnishing and a special surface coating process.
With our roller burnishing process, we can even roll aluminum piston rods with continuous bores.
